NON-TRADITIONAL OR MULTI-CULTURAL CEREMONY
If you want your wedding to reflect a joining of different cultural or religious traditions, or if you want a ceremony which goes beyond a traditional denominational service, we will create it -- together.
We will work with you to create a ceremony which is spiritual. It may or may not be religious.
NON-ENGLISH SPEAKERS?
If one of you is from a foreign culture, we feel strongly that the wedding ceremony should honor and express that culture in some way. Perhaps there is poetry and music that is important to you. That can be presented or performed as a part of the wedding ceremony. Since many of the wedding guests may not be familiar -- or comfortable --- with the unfamiliar music or poetry, we recommend either translating or paraphrasing the wording in the ceremony, or perhaps providing a translation in the wedding program. We'd like to talk with the two of you about the best way to do this.
If there are guests from a foreign country and who do not speak English, it is important -- as much as possible -- to enable them to understand the ceremony. Possibly some parts of the ceremony whould be presented in their language, or in English with translation, or with translation in the program.
If you use a ceremony element -- a special ritual, for example -- from a foreign culture, it needs to be explained for those guests who may not be familiar with it. Perhaps a brief explanation should precede it. Or an explanation can be included in the program. Let's talk about the best way to do this.
We have worked with couples where one partner was Hispanic, or Chinese, or Japanese, or Vietnamese, or German, or Indonesian. We welcome the opportunity to work with couples of these or other cultures.
